Basics Ultrasound-guided Nerve Blocks

Part I (theory) – 150 minutes

10:00 – 12:30

1.      Introduction in ultrasound (physics, how to obtain an ultrasound image; sonoanatomy; artifacts).

2.      Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks: neck (deep and superficial cervical plexus)

3.      Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks: upper extremity (brachial plexus: interscalen, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillar, peripheral nerves)

4.      Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks: lower extremity (femoral, fascia iliaca block, TAP block, femoral lateral cutaneous, sciatic, popliteal)

Lunch   12:30 – 13:30

13:30 – 16:00

Part II (hands-on) – 150 minutes (10:00-12:30?)

1.      How to manage the ultrasound equipment?

2.      Eye –hand coordination and needle visualization

3.      Ultrasound blocks - upper limb

4.      Ultrasound blocks - lower limb
